The Association for Martial Arts Furinkazan (DBV Furinkazan) was established in 1999 in Ljubljana (Slovenia), in order to practice principles of karate and kobudo, as taught by the Okinawan karate master Prof. Katsuhiko Shinzato. The initiator of the of the Furinkazan dojo was Borut Mauhler, who learns the principles of Shorin ryu Kishaba Juku karate from his teacher Shinzato sensei.

In our dojo we are dedicated to serious training and learning of those principles, which make possible for martial arts to function in a way that is alive, practical and effective, and not just a collection of techniques, positions and pseudo-Japanese rituals, which are so typical for the majority of commercial karate schools. Practices in our dojo are conducted in a friendly and non-competitive atmosphere, typical of the Okinawan karate.

Therefore our practices are always directed towards the development of individual capabilities of every individual regardless, of his or her physical and psychological predispositions. However, like in every human activity, the progress depends on small amount of talent and especially on long devoted individually practises. Everyone is welcome to our practices, regardless of gender and physical shape at the present moment, because we try to adjust our practice to everybody.
